The Great Snow Storm of 2010

On Thursday, February 11th, the Dallas/Fort Worth area had the biggest snowstorm in the past 111 years...I went to work on Thursday and watched out the window as it snowed and snowed and snowed....nearly 24 hours straight of snow....here...in Dallas, TX...we had more snow than Vancouver and they are hosting the Winter Olympics...

Nicholas loves the snow...he loves to play in it, sit in hit, hold it, smell it and especially to eat it....

Here are some pictures....enjoy!

Here is what my car looked like on Friday morning, the day after we received over a foot of snow! It took me 20 minutes to clean off my car before I drove to work.

Here is the area behind our backyard that is supposed to be dry but a family of beavers have built a dang dam causing it to fill with water. You can see the tree they chewed and chewed until it fell over just like in a cartoon. During our 20 degree weather this area freezes over like a hockey rink.

Another view from our backyard. Reminds me of Big Bear California...

And finally....another view from our backyard...great pictures by Lisa!

One of the many Cardinals that frequents our bird feeders trying to figure out what the heck is going on here!

The whole family (except our kitty Snickers) got to enjoy the snow. Here is Sabian posing for Lisa...

Here is Schnapps searching and sniffing and being all cute and stuff....

Speaking of cute........Here is Nicholas in the middle of our backyard, in the snow, during the snow storm, having a blast!

Here is an exclusive shot of "the boy" on the move searching for something to eat!

Mission accomplished....time to chow down!

OH WAIT....suddenly "the boy" is on the other side of the yard in the blink of an eye!

Snow should be one of the major food groups......

This stuff is snowtastic!

The snow level keeps rising and rising....I must figure out a way to stay out of harms way......

Must eat more snow must eat more snow!!!

I even love the smell of snow...

Must get more snow....Out of my way Giant Snow Monster!

Pssssss....hey...if you let me have some more snow I'll be your best friend...

His First Birthday Party For A Classmate!!

A girl in Nicholas' class named Abbie invited the whole class to her 5th birthday party! It was at a place called HERO'S in Denton, TX. This is an indoor party place with play areas, bounce houses, giant slides, carnival style games and of course pizza, cupcakes and soda! One of the Managers has a child who attended the same school as Nicholas, so she knew that most of the kids in attendance could need some extra help...this made us feel a lot better. The Manager would also be sure that our "party-person" knew about the kids and their possible needs. The party stated at 10am on Saturday, January 16th. As soon as we walked in the door, the birthday girl shouted, "Nicholas!" It was so fun to hear someone call out his name at party...

After most of the kids arrived it was time for the first station. A large room with a few baskets of different toys. Our party-person (standing to the left of the boy) had a few organized games, including a giant parachute...this was his first giant parachute...he seemed to enjoy it.

He really wanted to run underneath it and eventually he did!

Hang on tight!

He next tried to stand on a small board with wheels on it....he was a lot more successful when he sat on it and had Mommy push him around...

Running around trying to find something else interesting.

And, now it's time for the giant room 'o' bounce houses and slides! Since a lot of older siblings were in attendance, they were more than happy to help out the little kids when needed....Here we see Nicholas begin his journey to the top of the most giant slide he has ever seen!

Getting ready to ssssssssssssslide......stay tuned...

Here he is starting an inflatable obstacle course.....little does he know that Mommy is hot on his heels...

Going up for another slide!

Beginning his big plunge....

Daddy was too slow with the camera!! I need him to try it again....

...and Mommy edges out Nicholas for an indoor inflatable obstacle course victory!!

I finally get "the shot" as he rapidly slides back down to Earth....

Next stop? Pizza and cupcakes. Here he is patiently waiting for some pizza and a cold drink.

Here it is...his first ever bite of pizza party pizza....a proud moment for all of us!

Pizza......done.......next? A giant cupcake....
3 seconds before this picture was taken Daddy managed to get the paper off of the cupcake....luckily for all us, Mommy yelled across the room...."Take off the paper before he eats it!" Good call Mommy!

This is the universal sign for......."Father, my hands have been soiled with the richness of cupcake. Will you kindly assist me with cleaning them before I am forced to clap them and really make a mess?"

FIRST the last bite of cupcake, THEN you can clean off my face.

Here is a forced shot of Nicholas and Abbie right before we went home!
Thanks for inviting us..
